Sarah Cummings Truszkowski
Art TeacherSarah is a teacher.
I have a strong background in Education (B.Ed 2002 and M.Ed 2011) and I am a teacher. Presently, I am an Art Teacher who teaches from my studio in Regina. I have taught Visual Art workshops for the Art Gallery of Regina and for The Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation in Regina. Before having children, I was a High School Visual Art Teacher and Department Head in Montreal. With direct experience in the classroom, I know personally what teachers, students and staff need in order to thrive. As your Trustee, I promise to support policies and decisions that create the best school experiences and learning spaces for everyone. |
ParentSarah is a parent.
I live in the Cathedral area of Regina with my partner Rob and our three children (ages 14, 11, 8). We have lived in Regina for 13 years. Our kids attend École Connaught Community School and my eldest will go to Campbell Collegiate this fall (both Regina Public Schools). I have been involved with the Connaught SCC (School Community Council) for nearly a decade. I have really enjoyed working with the administration, teachers, other parents and students to build a great school and community culture. As a parent, I know the great impact public education has on all of us. Schools bring children, teachers, families and community members together to learn from each other, work together and foster a sense of belonging. I care very much about the people in this community. |
Community LeaderSarah is a community leader.
Over the years, I have done many things to help the community in Regina. I have helped build a community garden in Cathedral, volunteered as a Girl Guide leader, organized visual art activities for the Arts Festival, and led fundraising (over $100K) to rebuild the Connaught Playground. I have organized many community events such as Run for the Girls, Carols and Cookies, Art Parties, The Living Arts/Les Arts Vivants and more. I have been a voting member of the Connaught SCC for the last 8 years (past Chair and VC) and I am a member of End Poverty Regina. I care deeply about human rights, the arts, science, truth and reconciliation, the environment, student engagement and inclusivity. I will work hard to strengthen our community and make education in Regina the best it can be. |
I am also an artist who makes work about social justice, the environment, speaking up, beauty, motherhood and the cultural histories of women.
